What Is an Overpatch? A Guide to Decorative Dexcom G7 Patches

If you wear a Dexcom G7 or Stelo, you have probably heard the word "overpatch." Here is what it means, how a decorative patch from Pump Peelz is different, and how to place one neatly.

What is an overpatch?

"Overpatch" is the everyday name for a patch that goes over a CGM sensor. Device makers supply their own overpatches for their own purposes, and you can learn about those from Dexcom directly.

A Pump Peelz patch is a decorative overpatch. Its job is to make your device look like you: florals, plaids, seasonal prints, sports, solids and skin tones. It is not intended to secure, adhere or replace any manufacturer-supplied adhesive or component.

Tips for a neat look

• Dry-fit first. Hold the patch over the sensor before peeling so you know where the opening lands.
• Center, then edges. Peel the center backing first, line it up, and smooth outward.
• Go slow on curves. On the back of the arm, smooth in small sections so the design lies flat.
• Follow your device maker. Sensor application and wear always follow Dexcom's instructions and your care team's advice.

Patch or sticker?
